The name Lutheran

In the 1500's, Martin Luther helped reform the church of his day, returning it to the authority of God’s Word.   Luther’s enemies called those who believed that the Bible was their only authority, Lutherans.   Luther greatly disliked this name, preferring his followers be called Christians, but the name stuck.

Today, the name Lutheran identifies Peace Lutheran as a church which believes the Bible is the inerrant and unchangeable Word of God and our only authority for matters of faith and life.

Peace Lutheran is a member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, a denomination of 1.8 million, which operates the largest protestant Christian school system in the nation.
